Bravo - Reinventing car insurances

The team and I co-created a new service proposition for a leading insurance provider.
We collaborated in residence with the client team for a month to design and validate
a service for a connected diagnostic device for vehicles. Resulting in a user
testing prototype, value proposition and validated business case.

My project responsabilities:
Qualitative research plan, Secondary desk research, Customer journey map,
Visual Design, UX/UI Library, Prototyping creation, stakeholders management,
white board design thinking activities.

Project context

Car insurance is traditional a blanket, set and forget
service. You pay a single feel once per year
and you are insured whether you drive all day every day
or just the week ends. With the convergence of increasing customer expectations and in-car diagnostic tools,
there is an opportunity space to redefine how
car insurance works.

The design process

The challenge and opportunity

How might we evolve the concept of a diagnostic enabled
dynamic carinsurance into a tangible service proposition
that can be validated with potential customers?

Our co-creation with clients in residence was a total four weeks engagement, where we invited five insurance
experts to work with us two days a week.

Giving our client the opportunity
to work distraction-free and our design team
greater access to their expert knowledge.

The primary and secondary research

Eight interviews around with local targeted users around: 
General behaviour, Data and privacy, Relationship with apps,
Attitude towards physical device to be install inside the car,

Concept validation Main insights:
Positive attitude towards a more transparent and equal
car insurance but insurance details can’t be simplified
too much. 

The MVP Brand Identity

To convince the client the project needed a catchy name (the initial name was simply: “Dynamic Insurance”) and a proper Brand Identity I have started a co-creation session driving the client through a visual competitor analysis (both similar insurance products and other mobility related brands) and I have created a simple pitch to convince them “Bravo” was the right approach.

How it works

Welcome package and installation 

Julia subscribes to Zurich Insurance’s usage based insurance product, Bravo. She is pleasantly surprised to receive the Bravo Welcome Package and follows the step-by-step guide to install the dongle. 

First trip with the car

After completing her first trip Julia can access all of the data that the dongle has collected through the Bravo app. 

Monthly subscription 

At the end of each month Julia receives a notification that her monthly membership statement is ready and her payment has been processed automatically.
